チューブの破断強さが製品品質の重要な指標だったときに、この試験のために、インストロンは1kNの空気圧式コード＆編み糸グリップを使いました。これらのグリップは、すべりを防ぐことと、試験片にかけられるクランプ応力を減じるということに、非常に効果的です。そして試験片を、ジョーフェース部でチャック切れを起こさずに、ゲージエリア内で破断させるのに有効です。インストロンの3345型万能試験機に、100Nのロードセル、試験制御やデータ収集と試験レポートの準備のためのBluehill® 2ソフトウェアという構成を使い、計10本の試験片に試験速度20inch/min(約500mm/min）で試験を実施しました。
